Lola Alexandrea Calvin passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014 at the age of 80 years. Lola was born in Armena, Alberta on July 29, 1934. She is the oldest of four children. Her parents were Alec and Clara Hamilton and she had two brothers and one sister. For the first 12 years of her life the family lived in Armena, then they moved to the city of Edmonton. As time went on Lola worked at Eatons in Edmonton and it was at this time that she met the love of her life George Calvin. They were married in 1964 in Edmonton Alberta and they farmed for one year at Hazenmore, Saskatchewan. After one year of farming at Hazenmore, they moved to New Norway, Alberta where they have lived to the present. They had two sons Allan David and Blaine George Calvin. George and Lola were also blessed with seven grandchildren. George and Lola celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and Lola's 80th birthday in 2014. We were so blessed to have her in our lives. Lola was predeceased by one brother, Floyd Hamilton. She is survived by her husband George; children Allan (Angela) of Lethbridge, and Blaine (June Halvorson) of Red Deer County; seven grandchildren Ethan, Katurah, Bethany, Tasia, Jaron, Jordyn, and Madison; brother John Hamilton; sister Lorna Goudy; and sister-in-law Vera Hamilton. A Funeral Service was held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, December 4, 2014 from New Norway Evangelical Free Church with Norm Koop officiating. Interment has taken place in the New Norway Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the New Norway Evangelical Free Church, or to the charity of one's choice.
