Obituary of Albert Malfred Oslund

Please share a memory of Albert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Albert Malfred Oslund was born October 30, 1918 and passed away peacefully at the Tofield Health Center on November 14, 2014 at the age of 96. Malfred was born and raised on the family farm North-East of Ryley and spent most of his life farming. He most enjoyed watching the crops grow and working with the animals. He attended Thule School and played on the softball team winning many of their games. He did play hockey for Bathgate for a couple of years. Malfred was the eldest son and gave up a lot of sports time to stay home to farm. In 1941 he was called in to train for the army. He trained in Camrose for one month then came home. He thought he was better at farming than the army. Malfred worked for Watsons after turning 50, doing carpenter work and other odd jobs. This took him out of town to Wandering River for a couple of years and we are not sure if they worked or fished more; but he enjoyed it all. Malfred was predeceased by his parents Gustav and Ida; sisters Inga (Laurence) Pearse, Olga (Henry) Lee, Pearl (Nick) Kushnir, and Myrtle; and brothers Gunner and Walter (Mary). He is survived by his sister-in-law Beulah and many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, and many friends. He will be greatly missed by all. A Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 21, 2014 from Bethel Lutheran Church, Ryley, Alberta, with Rev. Fred Tober officiating. Interment followed in the Ryley Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to Bethel Lutheran Church Ryley, or to the Cross Cancer Institute.
