Obituary of Altha "Gerry" Stoddart

Gerry as her family and friends knew her passed away with family by her side on October 29, 2014. Gerry was born March 15, 1936 in the town of Cobden, Ontario in her Grandparents home. She was the only child of Ida and Harold McGinn. She grew up in Sudbury, Ontario, and then moved to Mississauga where she worked in the admitting department of Mississauga and Brampton Hospitals for many years before moving to Alberta in 1979. Gerry loved playing games, Canasta, Euchre and Bridge she also loved watching her soaps and couldn't resist buying raffle tickets and Nevada's. She leaves behind her loving Companion Arnold Benkendorf; her Daughter Donalda (John) Stoddart the Daughter she adopted along the way Joy (Doug) Peacock; her Grandchildren, Angela (Paul) Daley, Wayne Hynek (Cheryl Whitaker), Justin (Andrea) Lea- Stoddart, Aron Lea-Stoddart (Isaac Austin); Great Grandchildren Kody Hynek, Luke Daley, Lauren Daley, Kayley Hynek, Aiden Daley, Violet Daley and Asher Austin; adopted Grandchildren Rebecca Peacock, Amber (Jason) Wood; and adopted Great-Grandchildren Harmony Wood and Hunter Wood. Gerry's ashes will be returned to the place of her birth and interred in the Cobden Union Cemetery where she will rest with her Father, Harold Allan McGinn. A Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 7, 2014 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ted Wigglesworth officiating. Inurnment will take place in Cobden at a later date. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to S.T.A.R.S.
