Thomas "Tom" McLaren of Camrose, formerly of Coalhurst, Alberta passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the age of 82 years. Tom was born in Edmonton, Alberta . As a young boy he lived with his family in Camrose, later moved to Fort Macleod and then to Coalhurst and worked in Lethbridge at the Radio, TV Station and Lethbridge Cable TV. He married Alice Wesselman in October 1952. During the time in Coalhurst their daughter Debbie and son Larry were born and raised there. In 1977 they moved to Camrose to run and own Camrose and Slave Lake Cable. Tom retired in 2000 and did some traveling throughout the next few years. He was a member of Calvary Pentecostal Church and has been the treasurer for many years. Tom had a pilot license and liked to fly his airplane whenever he had a chance. His love for fishing took him on many fishing trips to Kootnay Lake, B.C. with his son Larry. He also grew a lush garden, ate many carrots and gave a few away as well. The grandchildren were pretty special to him - never missing a birthday and driving miles to attend them. Tom was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. His kind heart and generous nature will be remembered by many. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Alice; his daughter Debbie (Larry), his son Larry (Terry); grandchildren Stephanie (Sheldon), Heather (Dan), Lindsey (Arron), Natalie (Colin), Rikki (Shaun), Travis (Rhea); great-grandchildren Carson and Reece (Kropiniski), River (Koster), Jakob and Abby (Mulloy), Roxanne and Vanessa (Severson), Mason and Daxton (Csernyanszki). Tom was predeceased by his parents; and three brothers. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. from the Calvary Pentecostal Church (4920 48 Street, Camrose, AB) with Pastor Clayton Milgate officiating. Interment has taken place on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the Archmount Cemetery in West Lethbridge, Alberta. If friends so desire memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the charity of one's choice.
