Douglas Lofgren of Camrose passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the age of 63 years. Doug was born January 9th, 1951 in Edmonton, Alberta. He was adopted by Freeman and Rose Lofgren some thirteen months later. He attended school in Camrose and graduated from the Camrose Composite High School in 1969. There after he attended N.A.I.T. in Edmonton and trained as an electronics technician. He had a passionate interest in all things related to technology. He loved to use and build computers, as evidence by his very large trove of iPhones, iPads, desktops and laptops in his home office. A lifelong champion of his home town, he was active in the Chamber of Commerce and the Camrose/Japan Friendship Society with Camrose's twin city of Kamifurano, Japan. In August 1999 he married Betty Steinbach whom he met while working at Doughboy's Restaurant. Due to illness, Doug took early retirement from his career at the Camrose Canadian. We will remember Doug for his audacious humour, love of his home town, and love of Betty and his family. You will forever be in our hearts, and you will forever be loved. Left to cherish his memory are his father Freeman; and brother Padget of Edmonton. Doug was predeceased by his mother Rose in October 2013; and his wife Betty in April, 2014. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bill Harder officiating. Inurnment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery. If friends so desire memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to S.T.A.R.S. or to the charity of one's choice.
