Mervin Kirwer of Camrose passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014 at the age of 81 years. Mervin was born in Macklin Saskatchewan, July 21, 1933, grew up and attended school in Denzil. He held various jobs throughout the province - grain buyer, fuel truck driver and service station operator, before moving to Camrose where he was a driver instructor for AMA until his retirement. He was a quiet, gentle man who expected little and appreciated so much. Several nurses even commented on how much they enjoyed him because he was so undemanding, his manners were wonderful and he always had a smile with a bit of wit tossed in for fun. In his later years, he truly LOVED and was so proud of his five children, their spouses and families. He enjoyed the little things in life: camping, card games, auction sales, shopping for deals for EVERYONE, phone calls, quick visits, Sunday morning coffee dates, country music and family celebrations. He loved storytime and listening to "You Are My Sunshine" being sung over and over. He especially appreciated ALL that Garry and Mary Ann have done and continue to do today. Mervin has been unwell for sometime and it truly is a blessing that his pain and suffering have come to an end. Left to cherish his memory are his companion Mary Ann Pawliuk; his children Garry (Colleen) Kirwer of Camrose, Karen (Bruce) Humble of Unity, Saskatchewan, Gwen (Marvin) Phillips of Unity, Saskatchewan, Dale (Shelley) Kirwer of Macklin, Saskatchewan, Ron (Marilyn) Kirwer of Sherwood Park, two step-children Cory Pawliuk of St. Paul, and Tanya (Andy) Blades of Camrose; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother Norm (Delphine) Kirwer of Devon District; four sisters Lil Mercier of Edmonton, Jean (Victor) Beilman of North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Dianne (Mark) Stang of Macklin, Saskatchewan, and Carol (Florian) Stang of Edmonton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mervin was predeceased by his parents Edward and Emma (Falk); his three nephews; and brother-in-law Larry Mercier. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Larry Pederson officiating. Interment followed in the Camrose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to The Stollery Children's Hospital or to the charity of one's choice.
