Obituary of Barry Wold

Please share a memory of Barry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Barry Wold of Meeting Creek, Alberta passed away on Monday, August 25, 2014 at the age of 54 years. Barry was born on January 11, 1960 to Ken and Sylvia Wold. Barry's three sisters Karen, Wendy and Leann completed the family. Barry was a true Christian, a prayer warrior and he would witness to all who would listen. He never faltered in his faith in spite of his ongoing physical and mental challenges. He attended Ferry Point Church services in his younger years and then later attended Bethany Lutheran Church. He so dearly missed his Mom (Sylvia), and struggled with the transition of his Dad (Ken) off the farm. Barry's greatest pride was his family and most recently his two beautiful granddaughters (Mackenzie and Sierra) who made him a papa. Barry was so joyful to have his family extended with Courtney, Emily and Katrina. He always said, "If it wasn't for my wife and kids I wouldn't be half the man I am today". Barry married his high school sweetheart Brenda (Heisler) on November 3, 1979. The first four years of marriage they worked hard, so they could enjoy warm winter holidays. Their experimental child, Brad, was born in 1983; then Darcy who was Barry's strong man in 1985; then Jamie in 1988, the mirror image of his father's personality; and lastly the icing on the cake, Stefanie in 1990. Barry treasured every moment with his family at work or play. The family took a trip to Disneyland and recent trips to Mexico, where they created so many unforgettable memories. Barry and Brenda's summers were spent camping and sea-dooing, gathering with the kids, cheering on the Q n' T ball team, and visiting with friends. Barry truly considered himself a very rich man when it came to the love he had in his heart for each one of us here today. His heart was as big as himself. Barry was selfless and put himself second to anyone, Back Burner Barry. Dad had reached a comforting time in his life, when every day wasn't a constant struggle for him. It's truly difficult to believe and accept. Dad is no longer in pain, he is free. He is now enjoying his gift of eternal and everlasting life. We know that he will watch over all of us from above, guiding our footsteps and sharing in our earthly moments. Always in our memories, forever in our hearts, he will be missed, until we meet again. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Brenda; children Brad (Courtney) Wold of Meeting Creek, Darcy Wold (Emily Roth) of Meeting Creek, Jamie Wold (Katrina Pohl) of Camrose, and Stefanie Wold of Camrose; two grandchildren Mackenzie and Sierra; his father Ken Wold; his sisters Karen (Bob) Mingo, Wendy (Brian) Reinke, and Leann (Calvin) Lehman of Camrose. Barry was predeceased by his mother Sylvia Wold. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Messiah Lutheran Church (4810 50 Street, Camrose) with Pastor Ken Grambo and Pastor Harold Rust officiating. Interment has taken place in the Ferry Point Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Royal Alexandra Hospital I.C.U.
