Obituary of Margaret O'Donnell

Evelyn O'Donnell passed away peacefully on the morning of August 25, 2014 at the age of 78 years. Evelyn was born the second daughter of Olaf and Margaret Jorde on March 3, 1936 at the family home near Ankerton. In 1958, Evelyn married her sweetheart Terrance O'Donnell and lived at the family farm until 2013, when she moved to Heritage Manor in Camrose. Evelyn and Terrance had five children, Leonard, Margaret, Pat, Tom and Kathy. Evelyn was a hard working woman who cared for her five children and assisted Terrance with managing the farm. She chopped wood when necessary as well as milked cows, attending her large garden and pitching in when needed. She was also part of the community, helping out when asked to bake pies or cook. In later years, she enjoyed travelling and meeting new people. She especially enjoyed travelling with her sisters and their spouses. Her family was always her focus and she assisted in taking care of her grandchildren, whenever she was asked. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Terrance; father and mother, Olaf and Margaret Jorde; her sister Gladys; as well as her children Tom and Kathy in 1987, Pat in 2005; grandson, Ty, in 1995; and son-in-law Randy in 2004.She was also predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Dennis Herder and Dwain Jonson. Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Leonard (Teresa) O'Donnell; her daughter Margaret Kargard; and daughter-in-law, Brandy O'Donnell. She is also survived by her grandchildren Lindsey O'Donnell, Shawn O'Donnell, Angela (John) Corbett, Crystal (Aaron) Van Slyke, David, Allan, Megan, and April Kargard, TJ, Wyatt and Autumn O'Donnell; and by two-great grandchildren Brayden and Kaylee Corbett. She is also survived by her sisters Arlene Herder, Marilyn (Jack) Neill, Beverly (Ron)Berkhotlz and Norma Jonson, as well as many nieces and nephews. A Prayer Vigil was held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 28, 2014 from Our Lady of the Prairies Roman Catholic Church, Daysland, Alberta. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 29, 2014 from Our Lady of the Prairies Roman Catholic Church, Daysland, Alberta with Rev. Leon Kler as celebrant. Interment has taken place in St. Elizabeth's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Rosalind, Alberta. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Daysland Hospital Foundation, or to the charity of one's choice.
