Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jean Alice Enger of Camrose passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014 at the age of 74 years. Jean Enger was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on June 25, 1940. She spent her adolescence in Robb, Alberta surrounded by the Majestic Rocky Mountains, this is where her love of the mountains, camping and nature's wonders flourished. Jean moved to Edmonton where she attended high school and ultimately commenced her career in banking. She started in a clerks position and quickly moved to a lender position, where she would help other people's dreams come true. Jean married early in life and had two children, Cathy and Michael. Although the marriage ended, she continued on in life and provided a warm and loving home for her kids. After retiring from the banking industry she moved on to the second phase of her life where she met her true love, Gerry Enger. They married in 1994 and moved to Ferintosh in 1999. Jean and Gerry loved life and spent their time camping, travelling, gardening, reading and doting on their grandchildren; they became very active in the Royal Canadian Legion. Jean was a true sports fan, her favourite teams were the Prince Albert Raiders Hockey Club and the Edmonton Eskimos. Sadly Gerry passed away last year and Jean recently moved from Ferintosh to Camrose, where she continued being an active member in the legion; she truly loved volunteering for projects and helping people in need. Jean was a breast cancer survivor, beating the disease and remaining cancer free for almost ten years. Sadly, she was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and the disease spread quickly and she succumbed to it on August 18, 2014. She died peacefully in her sleep at the St. Mary's hospital in Camrose. She will be forever missed. Left to cherish her memory are her children Cathy (Tim) Blanche of Edmonton and Michael (Donna) Kinnee of St. Albert; four grandchildren; sister Wendy (Gene) Kinisky of Edmonton. Jean was predeceased by her husband Gerry, two brothers Jimmy and Don, her mother Irene. A funeral service was held on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from the Burgar Memorial Chapel (4817 51 Ave, Camrose) with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Northern Lights Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the SPCA or to the charity of one's choice.
