Ben Whitefish of Edmonton, formerly of Camrose passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the age of 63 years. Benjamin Phillip Whitefish also known as Ben, or Bennie, was born July 26, 1950 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Ben entered his final rest at 63 years old. Ben may not have had kids of his own, however he treated his nephews and nieces and any other child he encountered with love and tenderness. Ben worked as a Driller for many years and in the mines. Due to a medical condition later on, he was unable to pursue his career. So Ben became a jack of all trades; carpentry, painting, farm hand. Any job big or small a person could always count on Ben to be there lending a hand and helping out. He also loved to cook and bake and was exceptionally good at it. Ben is survived by his siblings Clarence of Yukon, Robert (Barb) of New Brunswick, Roger (Gayleen) of Camrose, Cecil (Deanne) of Camrose; two sisters Christine Whitefish of Camrose and Marie Whitefish (Arnold) of Camrose; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ben was predeceased by his parents Phillip and Elizabeth; three brothers Sam, Lawson, and Rick; one sister June Storvik; brothers-in-law Brent Storvik and Rick Williams. A funeral service was held on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Inurnment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the charity of one's choice.
