William Dorn West, always called Dorn, was born on July 13, 1932 to parents Alma and William at Heisler, Alberta. Dorn passed away on June 25, 2014. Dorn grew up in the Hastings Coulee area, and married Jessie Jeanuette Buckle on November 13, 1959. During their marriage they lived in Rosalind, Elk Point, Holden, New Norway, and Daysland. Dorn and Jessie were married for fifty-two years until Jessie passed away in October of 2012. Dorn worked for years as a Mechanic, and as a Truck Driver, often working many hours of overtime until attaining his goal of being his own boss and owning his own farm. Dorn loved raising and caring for livestock, and was especially fond of the cats. Dorn enjoyed his work, and didn't take time off for vacations very often, but when he did, he enjoyed his time hunting, fishing, and camping with his wife and children. He spent hours taking meticulous care of all of his machinery and always had the tools around to get the job done. Dorn was a spiritual man, and enjoyed his gospel and country music and always had time to visit with friends, family and neighbours and was particularly noted for his long goodbyes. Dorn is survived by his children Lonny (Jeff) of Edmonton, Marty of Camrose, Mike (Sheila) of Camrose, Kyle (June) of Daysland, and Lindsay (Mary) of Calgary, and his grandchildren Tristan, Kaitlyn and Keanan. A funeral service was held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from the Burgar Memorial Chapel (4817 51 Ave., Camrose) with Pastor Sand-rog Choi officiating. Interment followed in the Camrose Valleyview Cemetery. If friends so desire memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the charity of one's choice.
