Ted was born October 28, 1956 in Camrose, Alberta, to parents Douglas and Doris Lavoie. He passed away suddenly on Friday, May 23, 2014. He grew up in Camrose and remained there his entire life. Ted married Sandy Balcom on May 18, 1991 to this union were two children, Matthew Peter James and Melissa Lee Lavoie. Ted was a man of many talents, as a young boy he played guitar, showcasing his talents in the family Christmas skits and according to him, his "Awesome Band". He also worked as a welder for Lanuks Welding, then worked at Stelco. Following his dad's and Uncle Tubby's footsteps, Ted's passion was always truck driving, he hauled fuel for Esso for many years, then drove for HiWay 13. Ted loved anything automotive, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and his dogs. Ted also loved people, he was always willing to lend a helping hand, but was always late… Ted ran on "Ted Time". He was a good cook, altering dishes to satisfy everyone's taste buds, especially his daughter and he made sure nobody ever left hungry. Ted had many friends far and wide, no matter where he was everybody knew him, he accepted people for what they were and was not judgmental. Ted always had time to stop and talk. People referred to him as "Teddy Bear", being a big man he was very approachable and not intimidating. Some people said he would have made a great Santa. Ted always gave his kids what they wanted, but not always their version of! He was a very kind and loving dad. In 2008, Ted became a grandfather for the first time when Rylee Jean was born. Like every other grandfather, he was over the moon. He always had nicknames for the kids (Buck, Princess, Peanut). Ted leaves to mourn his son Matthew (Brandi), his daughter Melissa (Nick), the love of his life Hunny (his dog); his grandchildren Rylee Jean, Wyatt Theodore and Kinslee Sheila.
