Please share a memory of Ruth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elaine Zeniuk of Tofield, Alberta passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the age of 69 years. Elaine was born on November 24, 1944, to Fred and Alice Scheers, and grew up on the family farm in the Ardrossan area with her two older siblings. After completing high school she worked in Edmonton. She married Victor Zeniuk on August 19, 1972, and they had three children: Anita, Alice and Fred. Elaine and Victor farmed in the Round Hill area until his passing in May 1997. The family attended church at the St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic parish in Round Hill where Elaine was active in the CWL and worked on the church books. Elaine was a great cook and made amazing bread and delicious perogies. She always grew a garden and in the fall would be busy making jam or freezing vegetables for the winter. After Victor's passing Elaine moved briefly to Camrose and then to Tofield. Elaine loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them; she also enjoyed cross-stitching, reading, visiting with friends, working on the family history, and travelling. She had a great sense of humor and a kind and caring heart. Elaine leaves to mourn her children: Anita (Tom) Bell of Tofield, Alice (Russell) Kowalchuk of Tofield, Fred Zeniuk of Camrose; four granddaughters Taylor, Hunter, Bailee and Kensi; her brother Larry (Fay) Scheers and her sister Marion Scheers; as well as nieces and nephews. Elaine was predeceased by her husband Victor in 1997; her mother Alice in 1958; her father Fred in 1963; and nephew Bill in 2013. Elaine will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A Prayer service was held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from the Burgar Memorial Chapel (4817 51 Ave, Camrose, AB) with Rev. Greg Faryna officiating. Inurnment took place in the Transfiguration of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church Cemetery, Round Hill. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to S.T.A.R.S. or The Heart & Stroke Foundation.
