Obituary of Phillip Orville Misner

Phillip Orville Misner

(May 8, 1965 - April 5, 2024)

Phillip Orville Misner was born on May 8th, 1965 to Orville and Caroline Misner. He passed away suddenly on Friday, April 5, 2024 at the age of 58 at his home north of Bawlf.

Phil was born and raised in Galahad and graduated from Forestburg High School. From there, he moved to Killam where he worked three jobs; at the Killam Co-op, a school bus driver and an ambulance driver in Galahad until 1988. He moved to Camrose shortly after, when Phil was transferred to the Camrose Co-op.

While driving school bus he met his wife Noreen of Killam. After four years of courtship, Phil and Noreen were married at St. Peter's Church south of Strome on July 20th 1991. To this union two children were born. Bryan (1996) and Kara (1998).

In 1992 Phil went to work in Galahad remodeling the hospital. He fell in love with plumbing and went on to get his journeyman ticket. In 1994, his plumbing career took him up to Kulgluktuk, North West Territories (Copper Mine) where they built a school. Creating many fond memories of the north. In 2000, the family moved from Camrose to an acreage north of Bawlf where they still reside today. In 2007 Phil started his own company Country Plumbing and Gasfitting which he still did up until his passing.

Phil was an avid outdoorsman who was a key member to any hunting camp or fishing trip. He passed down his passion to his two children where they spent countless hours bonding through the love of the outdoors. Phil loved family gatherings and was always found at the grill or with a pitcher of paralyzers in his hand. He would never turn down a game of cards or dice.

He is survived by his wife Noreen Misner of 32 years; children Bryan Misner (Anyssa) and Kara Misner (Lyndon); mother Caroline; brother Ken Misner (Marty); sisters and brothers-in-law Dianne (Eric) Stenson, Rita Mourits, Bruce (Grace) Zimmer, Larry (Laurie) Zimmer, Dan Zimmer, Wayne Zimmer, Connie (Grant) McQueen, Veronica Webb, Sherry (Humphrey) Zimmer/Tio; and numerous nieces and nephews. Phil was predeceased by his father Orville Misner; sister Karen McDonald; father-in-law Alfred Zimmer, and brother-in-law Don Webb.

We find comfort in knowing Phil will be watching down on us as we try to carry on with our lives. He will be greatly missed.
