Obituary of Doug Neuman

Douglas "Doug" Len Neuman

(May 2, 1958 - April 2, 2024)

Doug Neuman was born in Lethbridge, AB on May 2nd, 1958 to Len and Elsie Neuman. He grew up in Hay Lakes, Alberta, on the Allan Douglas Ranch, with his two older siblings, Allan and Carol.

As a child, Doug loved working with the horses and pigs on the farm. If you couldn’t find Doug in the barn, you would find him in the field. Doug was very ambitious. He caught on to anything mechanical very quickly and is known as one of the smoothest equipment operators around.

Doug met his wife Kim Huculak (Wilson) in the 1970s. They married in 1979, purchased their first home, were proud owners of a backhoe and dry-cleaning company in Abbotsford B.C., and had their firstborn daughter Cori-Anne. Kim and Doug decided to be closer to family and moved back to the Allan Douglas Ranch in 1982.

Doug provided for his family by working on the farm and obtained his class one license to begin his trucking/hauling career. Shortly after the return to Alberta, Doug and Kim welcomed their second daughter Ashley into the world in 1983.

Doug loved his girls very much. He would take them on rounders with him in the big truck, let the girls “help” on the farm and with engine rebuilds and vehicle repairs, and even taught Ashley how to weld the handle back on her wagon when she was only seven years old.

Doug had many talents, most self-taught. He was known for mechanic repairs, welding, and carpentry. Doug had a passion for commercial transportation and purchased his own 1991 Mack in the mid-90s as he found himself a single father raising two girls in Kelowna, B.C.

Doug was a good father. He enjoyed taking his daughters on camping and fishing trips during the summer and in the winter, Doug could be found up at the Big White Chalet where the girls enjoyed skiing. Doug was blessed with three grandchildren, Kylie Hnatiuk, Brandon Enders and Parker Neuman. Doug truly found happiness through his family. He inspired his children to be strong independent women and raised the girls with a good moral compass and Christian family values.

Doug retired in Camrose, AB in 2019. Doug enjoyed dinner dates at the Norseman or the Alice, family events, visiting with friends and walks around Mirror Lake with family and the dogs. Doug had a heart of gold and left us with many fond memories that we will cherish forever.

Left to cherish his memory are his children Cori-Anne Neuman and Ashley Neuman; three grandchildren; and siblings Carol Park and Allen Neuman. Doug was predeceased by his parents Len and Elsie Neuman; and mother of his children Kim Neuman.
