Obituary of Arvid Johnston

Arvid Henry Johnston of Camrose, formerly of New Norway passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the age of 97 years. Arivd Henry Johnston was born June 26, 1916 in New Norway area, in a home delivery on the farm. He passed away peacefully on April 29, 2014 surrounded by loved ones. He was raised in New Norway on a farm. On November 18, 1942 he married Martha Dorothy Anonson the love of his life, they lived on a farm outside of New Norway. To this union five children were born. In 1950 they moved into New Norway and then, in 1969, they moved into Camrose. Left to mourn his loss is his wife of 71 years Martha, and five children Leroy (Darlene) of Camrose, Colleen of Sherwood Park, Darryl (Connie) of Bittern Lake, Guy (Jackie) of Camrose, and Sandra of Camrose; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; one sister Ruth Ramsey of Camrose; numerous nieces and nephews. Arvid is predeceased by his parents Robert and Johanna; four sisters Beatrice, Stella, Grace, Hazel, and two brothers Glen and Gerald. Arvid will be dearly missed but never forgotten by family and friends. The family wishes to sincerely thank you for attending this service and offering your support. Your thoughtfulness is appreciated and will always be remembered. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from the Camrose United Church (4829 50 Street, Camrose, AB) with Rev. Alan Richards and Rev. Murray Cowan officiating. Inurnment took place in the Camrose Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Camrose United Church.
