Obituary of Victor Badry

Please share a memory of Victor to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Victor John Badry was born November 12, 1928 on the farm in Heisler, Alberta. He lived at home until he was 21 when he went to Camrose and worked at the Imperial Service Station, Labarge Garage and as an oil well cleaner at Baldwin and Knowell. On June 22, 1953 he married Mabel Maxine Brandt, his wife of 60 years. They were blessed with three daughters Leanne, Shara-Lynn and Laurel and adopted two sons Shawn and Lee. In July 1959 they moved back to the farm. During their farming years they grain farmed, milked cows, raised pigs, sold hatching eggs and raised beef cattle. In 1991, they moved into Heisler and Victor continued to commute to the farm. He loved to farm and continued to do so until the loss of his eyesight. Retirement brought many days of fishing and camping. Family members were often taken along and many of the grandchildren caught their first fish with Grandpa. Victor loved music and played his harmonica for the family to enjoy. If there was a dance you could be sure that he would be found on the dance floor all night long. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Curling and hunting were also activities he enjoyed. Victor was a man of great faith and was always an Inspiration to Believing and Walking with Jesus. Because of his gentle caring spirit, family, friends and neighbors were often included in his prayers. A rosary would always be found in his pocket. Victor passed away peacefully at the Galahad Care Centre with family at his side on April 22, 2014 at the age of 85. Victor is survived by his loving wife Maxine; three daughters Leanne (Greg) Baumle, Shara-Lynn (Jerry) Weller, and Laurel and fiancé Jonathon; two sons Shawn (Janice Koehli) and Lee (Lorraine Dutka); 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers Lester, Lloyd and Roger; and four sisters Phyllis Phillips, Doris Rubinocci, Connie Warner and Joan Winterhalt. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Mary Badry; three brothers Allen and Marvin and infant Joseph; and two sisters Hildred Badry and Audrey Kroetsch. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2014 from St. Martin's Roman Catholic Church Heisler, Alberta with Rev. Leon Kler as celebrant. Interment has taken place in the St. Martin's Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Galahad Care Centre (payable to Galahad Ladies Auxiliary), or to the Alzheimer Society.
