Obituary of Debbie Annette Ulrich

Debbie "Deb" Annette Ulrich

(March 23, 1960 - January 10, 2024)

Deb was born in Edmonton, Alberta and grew up near by in Fort Saskatchewan. Deb lived with her parents Bill and Ina DeWilde and younger brother Gary (Mable) DeWilde. Early in adulthood, Deb met the love of her life, Terry Ulrich. They married on March 26, 1983, and were blessed with two children Nicole (Kirk) Anderson and Jeremy Ulrich. Deb was a devoted Mother and wife. She worked in retail, sometimes juggling three jobs at once. Deb enjoyed spending time at Gull Lake with Terry and the kids, fishing and tending to a large garden. 

Deb and Terry were involved in a tragic car accident in May 2002 which left Deb paralyzed from the chest down. This completely changed Deb’s life, as she was now dependent on others for her daily care needs. This is what led Deb to live at the Louise Jensen care center in Camrose. Throughout this she kept her positive, good-natured attitude and persevered to live life to the fullest. Deb was an active member in the resident council, raised money for the local food bank, wrote a chapter in a book, wrote poems, and learned to paint with limited dexterity

Deb had three grandchildren, Owen, Adalyn and Danica. Although she was unable to see them often, she kept in touch by email, phone and facetime; wondering what everyone was up to. She always had “treats” for the kids from her winnings at BINGO. 

Deb will be deeply missed and will be remembered for her “never give up” attitude and ability to always smile, no matter what. She was “one tough cookie”. 

Left to cherish her memory are her children Nicole (Kirk) Anderson and Jeremy Ulrich (Sandi Sule); three grandchildren; and parents Bill and Ina DeWilde. 

Deb was predeceased by her husband Terry Ulrich; and brother Gary Dewilde.  

A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 22, 2024 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel, 4817 - 51 Avenue Camrose officiated Rev. David Ericksson.
