Vera Isabelle Brausen
(December 18, 1930 - November 20, 2023)
Vera Isabelle Brausen of Daysland, Alberta, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023 at the age of 92 years.
Vera was born in Strome, Alberta on December 18, 1930, and was one of twelve children to Joe and Ludvina Hauser.
Vera spent her early years in the Strome and Rosalind area. As she grew in age, she took on work with various local farmers and other jobs. It was at that time she met the love of her life James Brausen. They were married on June 9, 1953, and to this union, seven children were born, three girls and four boys.
Vera and James raised their family in Daysland and were committed to a lifelong journey of faith in the Roman Catholic church. Vera was also a member of the local CWL and the Royal Purple.
Vera took on various jobs in town, working at the Daysland Hospital, and Blatz’s Steak House where she worked for over two decades. She truly enjoyed serving people and being a part of the community.
Vera was devoted to caring for her children and grandchildren, took pride in keeping a tidy house, and was known for her incredible baked goods. Her home was always filled with delicious aromas from pies, cinnamon buns, and fresh buns.
Vera especially enjoyed it when all her family would gather for special occasions. It was here where she could share food and show her love and care for her family.
Vera leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory Neil and Sherry of Calgary, Butch and Faye of Daysland, Colleen of Strome, Brian and Tresa of Calgary, Colin and Karen of Stettler, Shawna and Pat of Strome, and Rhonda and Philip of Lloydminster.
Vera also leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory nineteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; siblings Margie Stang; Rodger Hauser; and Jeanette and Glendon Langille all of Camrose; and numerous nieces and nephews. Vera was predeceased by her husband James; daughter-in-law Gerry Brausen; and son-in-law Paul Froehler.
A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Our Lady of the Prairies Roman Catholic Church, in Daysland, celebrated by Father Danial D'Souza.
