Allen "Al" William O'Brien

(August 27, 1940 - September 29, 2023)

Al was born in Vimy, AB, on August 27, 1940 to Bill and Martha O’Brien of Westlock, AB. Al had three brothers Bruce, Wayne, and Gary and three sisters Viola, Vivian, and Wanda. Al grew up on the family near Westlock, AB and lived there until he married Doreen Mae Finlayson on March 15, 1958 in Westlock. Al and Doreen moved to Edmonton and together they had seven children Don, Lana, Lori, Kevin, Darcy, Clayton, and Cory. They lived in Edmonton and area until 1987 when they moved to Round Hill, AB, with their two granddaughters, Jodi and Deanna, whom they raised. 

Al was a hard-working family man who loved to travel and go camping and fishing. He also loved hockey and baseball, especially the Toronto Blue Jays. 

He is survived by his children Lana (Sam) Ingrao, Kevin (Ruth) O’Brien, Darcy O’Brien, Clayton O’Brien and Cory O’Brien; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special “Little Lady” Darlene Wellington; and siblings Vivian (Bill) Weaver, Bruce (Lorraine) O’Brien, Gary O’Brien and Wanda Labonte. He was predeceased by his wife Doreen; son Donald; daughter Lori; parents Bill and Martha; sister Viola; brother Wayne; and great-granddaughter Sara Lee.

A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2023 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel, 4817 - 51 Avenue Camrose officiated by Mr. Michael Anderson.
