Obituary of Doraine Vivian Winder

Doraine Vivian Winder

(December 23, 1935 - September 15, 2023)

Doraine was born and raised in the Ryley district. When she was five years old, her father died from pneumonia. Doraine was raised by her mother on the farm with one brother and one sister. She married Leonard Winder of Kingman in 1953 and together they raised four children and one nephew at Dried Meat Lake. Doraine worked at the Royal Bank for 30 years and just months after retiring, Leonard passed away. She retired and lived in Camrose with daughter Lois for approximately seventeen years prior to her passing. Doraine was a mother to every child living at the lake and will be missed greatly by all those who knew her. 

Left to cherish her memory are her children Les Winder (Mary Anne Bulldog) of Camrose, Hal Wiklun of Camrose, Lois Anne Batke of Camrose, and Valerie (Rod) Lohr of Flatbush; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and sister Eileen Rhyason of Camrose. 

Doraine was predeceased by her husband Leonard; son Blair; brother Allan Wiklun; and brother-in-law Marvin Rhyason.

A Graveside Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 21, 2023 from the Skafse Cemetery.
