Frances Elizabeth Meston (nee Faye) passed away peacefully, at St. Mary's Hospital in Camrose Alberta on September 13th, 2023, at the age of 86 years.

Frances is survived by her children Randy (Kirby), Colleen (Ron) Slavik, and Scott (Nola); grandchildren Keylan Meston, Ria Meston, Casey (Travis) Mytz, Kyle Slavik, Krista (Derrick) Hunter, Curtis Slavik, Levi Meston, Brodie Meston, Chet Meston, and Peyton Meston; and great-grandchildren Leighton Mytz, Jett Mytz, Ellie Mytz, Crew Hunter and Lux Hunter. She will be missed by her brothers and sisters Edward (Sonnia) Faye, Doreen Bugyi, Harold (Mildred) Faye, Jean (Albert) Benko, Tony (Linda) Faye, Gerald Faye, Shirley Faye, and Lorretta (Gillis) Macdonald; and brother-in-law Allen Meston (Sylvia). Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews also cherish Auntie Fran's memory.

Fran was predeceased by her husband Gordon; daughter Tracy; parents Stanley and Catherine Faye; brothers Albin and Gordon; niece Nadine Gordon; sister-in-law Cam Faye; and brother-in-law Grant.

Fran was born on the farm in the Model Farm District near Kelliher, Saskatchewan on June 28, 1937. She was the eldest daughter and second child of 10 children.

When Fran was around 15 or 16 years old, she took the train to Vancouver to live with her Grandma and Grandpa Faye and worked, we believe, as a waitress.

She returned to Saskatchewan, met Gordon and they were married on November 29, 1958, in Regina, Saskatchewan. Together they purchased their first home in Regina and she was busy raising her family. Fran loved God, gardening and cooking. She was blessed with a green thumb; her garden was filled with beautiful flowers and tasty vegetables.

In 1971, they were Alberta Bound and settled in Calgary. Fran had various jobs, she worked at a book binding company, cleaned banks, K-Mart and worked for Canada Safeway as a meat wrapper. In 1982 Gord and Fran purchased a trucking company which became Meston Livestock Transport. The boys joined shortly after. Fran took care of the bookkeeping and dispatching. The business is still owned by the family today.

Gord and Fran always loved the farming and ranching lifestyle. They made their dream come true by purchasing seven quarters of land near Stettler spending the summers haying and tending to the cows. Not ones to sit idle, another goal was to own a team of horses. Gord and Fran joined the Alberta Miniature Chuckwagon Racing Association. They would travel the country doing parades with their stagecoach and racing their beautiful team of whites that were a force to be reckoned with. During the winter, Gord and Fran would pack up and head south, soaking up the sun and enjoying time with family and friends.
