Obituary of Evelyn Lucille Adam

Evelyn Lucille Adam

(January 31, 2023 - September 8, 2023)

Evelyn’s life was little in time but big in wonder. And while she was small in form (she was less than first percentile in weight until she was six months old!), her massive joy more than compensated. She was cooing and smiling at the seahorse hanging from her hospital mobile at a mere five-weeks-old. When she came home, she found companions in Olive the Octopus and Lucy the Lamb. Mommy and Daddy very quickly grew used to hearing giggles, squeaks, babbles, and raspberries, and the faces of family and friends were easy triggers for a gummy, crinkly-nosed smile. She enjoyed playing with Daddy, cuddling with Mommy, going for walks with Mémé, and dancing with Uncle Jason.

Evelyn soon grew a reputation as being an exceptionally easy baby. She slept through the night early on and barely cried (except when her rambunctious cousins would get too loud––but she got used to that and eventually thought their running about very entertaining). To everyone’s joy, she achieved all her milestones on time despite having DiGeorge Syndrome and spending the first six weeks of her life recovering from heart surgery. Concerns of a weak immunity were eased after regular checkups with the doctor showed, outside of a heart defect, a perfectly healthy baby.

As her spirit waxed, the effects of her first heart surgery waned, and the time came for a total repair of her heart defect. The surgery was a success and the doctors expected a full recovery. But people do not know what God knows: Evelyn’s time here was complete; He had loaned her to us as a gift for a time, and that time was now at an end. Three days after her second surgery, Evelyn was free to express the fullness of her joy in the loving arms of her heavenly Father.

Left to cherish her memory are her parents Tyler and Danielle Adam; grandparents Dale (Karla) Adam of Rosalind, and Roland (Lorraine) Blackburn of Morinville; great-grandmothers Erna Adam of Camrose, and Laurette Blackburn of Morinville; uncles and aunts Stacey (Cody) Gunderson, Jason Adam, Kevin Adam, Chantal (Peter) Visscher; and cousins Mikayla Gunderson, and Abria, Isla, Everly, Levi, and Cohen Visscher.

Evelyn was predeceased by her great-grandparents Arthur Adam, Evelyn (Donald) Vikse, Roger Blackburn, and Roseanne (Arnold) Longpré.
