Dorothy Agnes Hoyme
(March 8, 1934 - July 11, 2023)
Dorothy Agnes Hoyme of Camrose, Alberta, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at the age of 89 years.
Dorothy was born in Meeting Creek, Alberta, to Tora and Carl Johnson on March 8, 1934. She had two older brothers, Wilfred and Leroy. When her mother passed away later that year, Dorothy went to live with her dad’s brother Gustov and his wife Anna in Ferintosh, where she gained four more siblings; Dorothy, Lily, Herb, and Clare.
Dorothy attended Camrose Lutheran College for her grade 12 year. After high school, she worked in Camrose where she was employed by the Royal Bank. It was during this time that she met and married the love of her life, Clifford, in 1956. Dorothy continued to work for the bank until they started their family in 1960. She would later return to work part time downtown in retail sales, where she enjoyed meeting and serving the public and made lasting friendships.
Dorothy was a gift to many people and knew how to make others feel special. She loved nature, her flowers, sitting out on the screened in deck and whenever she saw a hummingbird, felt it was a special gift from God. She also took great pleasure in her home. Dad told her many times that she missed her calling as an interior decorator. Devoted wife, mom, grandma, sister, auntie and friend, she will continue to live in our hearts forever.
Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her husband Clifford; son Dale and his children Merlin, James, and Michael; and daughter Laurel Bogda, her children Joseph (Melissa) and Thomas (Maria), and their father Phil Bogda. She was predeceased by her son Merlin in 1973, her parents and siblings.
A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 24, 2023 at Messiah Lutheran Church, Camrose officiated by Rev. Bev Swanson and Rev. Jeff Decelle.
