Obituary of Enid Mary Adam

Enid Mary Adam

(January 28, 1929 - June 24, 2023)

Enid Mary Adam of Delburne passed away on Saturday, June 24th, 2023 at the age of 94 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Darcy (Ryan) Adam of Vancouver, Dwight Adam of Delburne, and Darren (Jodi) Adam of Sherwood Park; grandchildren Tammy, Patrick, Cody, Mercedes (Shaun), Amber and Cassidy; great-grandchildren Kali, Freya, Bronson, Harmony and Isaiah; twin sister Edith Skaskow; and sister Marion Campbell.

Enid was predeceased by her husband of 71 years William (Bill); son Daryl Adam; granddaughter Justine Adam; daughter-in-law Dawn Adam; parents Stanley and Ruth Rowe; brother’s Archie Rowe and Ken Rowe; and sister Margaret Grant.

Enid was born in the Dunvegan community close to Fairview, Alberta on January 28th, 1929.

Enid moved to Edmonton where she met the love of her life.  Enid and Bill married June 23, 1951 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ardrossan where the Adam family worshiped.

Enid and Bill lived in Edmonton when their first son Darcy was born and, a few years later, Daryl was born while living in Sherwood Park.  In 1956, Enid and Bill moved to Drayton Valley where Dwight and Darren were born. In 1964, the family moved to Whitecourt and Enid was the devoted wife to support Bill in the family business of Whitecourt Tire and Battery and later ABEE motors.  She was an essential part of the business taking care of the administration and, at the same time, being a full-time mother and volunteer at the church.  Enid was a hard-working woman who would lend a hand where it was needed. In 1986, Enid and Bill moved to an acreage near Delburne for a simpler life and this was her forever home with her husband.  She would always have a fantastic meal on the table with homemade dessert for her family or friends who came to visit.  Enid enjoyed growing her vegetables and berries as she loved to can and pickle, you never left her house without a jar or two.  Her other passion was her beautiful flower gardens that reflected the love she had for flowers and the love of watching the birds enjoy them.

Enid was loved so much by all and will be deeply missed.
