Obituary of Bernice Anna Albers

Bernice "Dolly" Anna Albers

(September 8, 1929 - January 28, 2023)

Bernice "Dolly" Anna Albers of Heisler, Alberta, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the age of 93 years.

Bernice Anna (Klein) Albers was born September 8, 1929, at the farm in Fauln Alberta, to John and Irene Klein. She met Bruce Albers while working for the Hawks, on their farm, in April of 1953. On February 27, 1954 they were married in Heisler Alberta and to this union seven children were born. They went to work for Joseph Kramer till 1957. In 1958, they moved to the Klein family farm in Heisler where they farmed till 1991 and retired in the town of Heisler.

She is survived by her loving husband Bruce of 68 years and 11 months; children Duane (Debbie), Darrell (Diane), Valerie (Bob), Lorne (Jennifer), Jann (Karen) and Jackie (Debra); thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister Bertha Mills (100 years young); sisters-in-law Blanche Klein, and Joyce Klein; and numerous nieces and nephews. As well as two brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and godchildren Randy Mills, Diane (Klein) Spooner, Lori (Klein) Nibourg, and Rebecca Albers.

She was predeceased by her parents John and Irene Klein, infant child Linda, brothers Lawrence (Ilene), Leo, and Walter; sister Mary (Dave) Franson; brother-in-law Charlie Mills; and godchild Ricky Franson.

Bernice was a woman of many talents who liked to collect trinkets. She also liked to garden, paint pictures, quilt, and sew. She restored dolls and made doll clothes for them. She was a carpenter and a mechanic (JB weld worked miracles). She also bought used cars that didn’t work which brought a little resistance as she had five mechanically inclined sons that were questioning why (LOL). She had a granddaughter, who she called her “Birthday girl”, with whom she shared the same birthday.

In November of 2017, she moved to the Galahad care center. Mom was in pretty poor health, but they nursed her back. She really loved it there. But in May of 2021, they closed Galahad down. So, from there she went to Providence Place in Daysland where she stayed till April 19, 2022. By then Galahad was re-opened and she went back where she stayed until she passed. Her favorite little saying was things you do, do with your might and things done by halves are never done right.

A Funeral Mass was held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 3, 2023, from the St. Martin Roman Catholic Church, 313 Manning Ave, Heisler with Fr. Danial DSouza as celebrant
