Emma Pointkoski

(January 11, 1926 - November 26, 2022)

 

Emma Pointkoski of Camrose Alberta, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the age of 96. 


Emma was born on January 11, 1926, on the family farm in Round Hill. She was the first child of Joseph and Annie Kushnerik. Emma attended Kulaway School. 
 

She met the love of her life, Walter Pointkoski of Camrose at a wedding dance. They were married on July 18th 1946, at Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church. They were married for 54 years and raised children; Garry, Ken, Marilyn and Joan. The family carried on with mixed farming throughout their life until Walter’s passing.
 

Emma had many passions in her lifetime, she enjoyed home, family, and horticulture. She was a member of the Round Hill CWL and the Horticultural Society for many years. Emma was the happiest when she was hosting parties. She had a great love for cooking, baking, crocheting, and reading books. She was always interested in learning. She grew many incredible gardens and flowers over her lifetime that won her many prizes. Emma was known as a hard worker and enjoyed her time working at the Norseman Inn, where she made many friends.
 

She will be lovingly missed by her children Garry Pointkoski (Alora Nelson), Ken (Debi) Pointkoski, and Joan Burnett; son-in-law Gary Olson; grandchildren Jason Pointkoski, and Tara (Mark) Holowka; great-grandchildren Emmett, and Adele Holowka; brothers John (Wanda) Kushnerik, and Mickey (Irene) Kushnerik; extended family Kim (Matt) Downey and their daughter Keira; and many more family and friends. 
 

Emma was predeceased by her husband Walter, parents Joseph and Anne Kushnerik; daughter-in-law Yvonne Pointkoski; her loving daughter Marilyn Olson; and most recently by her sister Lena Bowal. 
 

A Funeral Mass was held at 11:00 a.m., December 1, 2022, from the St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, officiated by Father Kris Schmidt.  The service was live-streamed, recorded, and accessible at the following link: https://stfxcamrose.caedm.ca/ 


If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Emma's memory may be made to St. Stanislaus Cemetery; St. Francis Xavier Building Fund; or to a charity of one's choice.
