Obituary of William "Bill" Holowatiuk

William "Bill" Basil Holowatiuk of Camrose, formerly of Ryley, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the age of 88 years. William (Bill) Holowatiuk was born on November 11, 1925 on the family farm east of Round Hill, Alberta. He was the youngest of 12 kids to Paul and Sophie Holowatiuk. In his younger years, Bill was very active in sports. He played baseball and curled. On April 11, 1964 he married Janet Hamstra. Together they had three boys, Bruce, Darryl, and Dwayne. Bill lived on the farm his whole life and loved farming. On January 26, 2014, at the age of 88, Bill sadly left us after a full, happy life. Bill is survived by his loving wife Janet; and sons Bruce, Darryl (Larissa),and Dwayne (Cheryl); along with chosen family Bruce (Joan) Burnstad; grandchildren Shane, Brittany, Reilly, Connor, Emily, Josh (Rebekah), Kierstin, Karissa, Joelle, Jaidan, Kai and Adleigh; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Paul and Sophie; as well as his 11 siblings, Leona, Dan, Emmett, Ann, Mary, Jim, Anton (Joe), Phyllis, Johnny, Helen, and Barbara. The family extends their gratitude to all our family and friends for their prayers and support, and also to the staff at Bethany Meadows for their care of Bill. Our gratitude would not be complete without a huge thank you to Ray Johnson for all your time playing crib with Bill. A Funeral Service was held 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 31, 2014 from Messiah Lutheran Church (4810 50 Street, Camrose, AB) with Rev. Garfield Vikse officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Camrose Cemetery at a later date. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the charity of one's choice.
