Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary "Florence" Allen of Ft. Saskatchewan, formerly of Camrose passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the age of 90 years. Florence was born to the late Frank and Clara Beaudry of Edmonton, AB on May 26, 1923. In 1942, Florence married the late (Bill) Alvin Clarence Allen. During the war years they lived in Victoria B.C. This was hard for Florence as Bill was always at sea. In 1945 they returned to the family farm in Daysland AB. Then moving to Camrose AB. where they found the acreage on Mount Pleasant. We all worked very hard to help clear the land and build their home. Florence worked as hard as Bill, many long and late hours. Her family always came first. She was the best cook, loved to bake, had a passion for gardening, sewing and many arts & crafts but still had time for her friends. In later years she loved to travel, her favorite trip was to Australia. Florence is survived by her children Virginia (Orlif) Nelson of Ft. Saskatchewan, Dale (Pat) Allen of Bittern Lake, Rod (Shirley) Allen of Edmonton, Christine Wahl of Camrose; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild; sisters Theresa Van Troyen of Vancouver, Rolande (George) Parnell of Strathmore and Eva Forcade of Edmonton. Florence was predeceased by her husband Bill; her parents; and eighteen siblings. A public visitation was held on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m at the Burgar Memorial Chapel. A funeral service followed in the Burgar Memorial Chapel at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Interment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the charity of one's choice.
