Obituary of Doris Butler

Please share a memory of Doris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Doris Irene Butler was born on September 17, 1923 in Hanna and passed away January 26, 2014 at the age of 90 years. For the first 10 years of her life she lived east of Pollockville. In 1933 they moved to the Dorenlee area, and in 1940 they moved to the farm at New Norway. On December 9, 1945 she married Art Butler and lived on the Butler farm until 1978 when she moved to New Norway to live with her mother when she wasn't working at Bashaw Valley Lodge. Doris's family was very important to her. She could always be seen at functions her grandchildren participated in. She never missed a 4-H show, violin lesson or a sports event they were at. She also never missed having birthday and Christmas gifts for all her young nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews. She loved babies. She was excited to be a Great Grandma. Doris was the most unselfish person. She touched many people's lives and was always ready to lend a hand where needed and to offer kind words of encouragement. Visiting at the Hospital was something she did regularly until she couldn't drive anymore. Doris was a great letter writer and kept in touch with many nieces and nephews as well as cousins from overseas. She was a Life Time Member of the New Norway Community Club. God was a very important part of her life. She was a member of the United Church and a delegate to Presbytery for many years. If for some reason there was no service at the United Church she would just go to another one. Doris leaves to cherish her memory one son Bruce (Karen); grandchildren Kelly (Mike), Jodi (Dylan) and Randy; and great grandson Kale; her brother Victor (Madeline); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by her Husband Art and son Harold. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 3, 2014 from Camrose United Church (4829 50 Street, Camrose, AB) with Mary Ann Pastuck officiating. Inurnment will take place in the New Norway Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to New Norway Zion United Church, or to New Norway Hall Board.
