Obituary of Peter Gabruck

Peter Gabruck of Daysland passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the age of 82 years. Peter was born in Daysland on June 1, 1931. He was one of eight children and attended Quarrel School. In October 1952, he married Rose Makarowski and together they raised three children on the Gabruck homestead, where they resided until 2010 at which time they moved to town. As a young man, Peter enjoyed playing baseball for many years - first with the Bateman Ball Team and later with the Daysland Ball Club where he eventually became the coach. He enjoyed going to hockey games, ball games, and playing cards with neighbors and friends. Left to cherish his memory are his children Donna Rozka of Vermilion, Randy (Sheila) Gabruck of Beaumont, Cheryl (Martin) Edmison of Sherwood Park; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; three brothers Victor (Phyllis) of Daysland, Stan of Killam, and George (Jean) of Sedgewick; two sisters Ann Koehli of Daysland, and Olga (Robert) Mosier of Sherwood Park. Peter was predeceased by his wife Rose; son-in-law Lawrence Rozka; one brother John; and one sister Helen Strilchuk. A Divine Liturgy was held on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from Our Lady of The Prairies Roman Catholic Church Daysland. Interment has taken place in the Daysland Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the charity of one's choice.
