Gertrude Marie Elizabeth Holt

Gertrude Marie Elizabeth Holt (nee Jans): Born June 23, 1924 at Crooked Lake, near Gwynne, Alberta, passed away peacefully, with family at her side, on Friday, October 16th, 2020.
Gertrude was predeceased by her parents, Clara and Andreas; her brothers, Arnold (infant), and Herman Jans; her sons, Guy and Frazer; and daughter-in-law Claire Holt (George). Gert leaves behind her husband of 74 years, Earl Garfield Holt; five children Aaron Holt (Sylvia), George Holt, Gerald Holt (Cherry), Connie Durand (Ken), and Elinor Holt (Spider Bishop); as well as, twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Gertrude and Earl farmed for many years near New Norway, later retiring in Camrose. Their wide circle of family and friends will long remember many community dances, celebrations, and potluck gatherings made just a little happier by the obvious pleasure and joy Gertrude took in being with them.
Gertrude was loved by all. Her optimism and easy sense of humour made even the cloudiest of days seem brighter. She was a role model of patience and understanding, anchoring her family in the tough times and celebrating with them in the good. Her strength, courage, and boundless love will be deeply missed.
A private family service was held.
