Our condolences to Norma's family, she was a very special lady and we were
so happy to first meet her this February and again in August. Norma was doing up family trees and since her grandfather Billy Wells and my great grandfather George Wells were brothers who had come to the Bashaw area to homestead in 1898. Norma was kind enough to track me down and share family history with me.
I went up to Camrose to meet her and what a delight it was. We went over family history and then I was fortunate to have her fill me in on her own life and travels. Working in Edmonton for the RCMP, marrying a RCMP officer who after leaving the force went back to the coast to regroup before embarking on an odyssey across Canada down the east coast of the states then across the southern states to the west coast right at the time the hippie movement was really going. Paul thought sailing toward South America seemed like a good idea, they got a small catamaran and with another couple started out. However by the time they were half way down the Mexican coast Norma had had enough of the small boat and if her husband could get her to shore she was gone. Norma told me the other couple felt about the same so they turned back for San Diego to sell the boat. They spent time in the B.C. and later to Alberta and Camrose, back home for Norma.
Diane and I were so privileged to been able to meet Norma.

Condolences to all Norma’s nieces and nephews.....you were so special in her life and she often talked about you to the point I feel I know you....Norma and I went to college together and shared an apartment....I spent many a weekend at Jack and Gunda’s, she was a bridesmaid at my wedding 60 years ago and we have always stayed in touch.....the last time I talked to her I told her I had stopped at the New Norway cemetery and found all the graves except Rene and Larry and she said the next time you go I will meet you there and I never thought I would be visiting her grave. She is one of my oldest and dearest friends and I will miss our long phone calls...I always knew to wait until the curling was over. Take care of yourselves and know your Auntie Norma was so proud of you all and loved you to bits. Love to you all. Marwayne Thomas

I had the great fortune to call Norma my best friend since we met in 1981. She was one of the most generous, kind and fun loving person I have ever known. I will miss her very much and extend my deepest sympathies to all who loved this amazing lady. She will always be with us. Tilly Auerbach.
