Please share a memory of Shirley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of Shirley Ann Pryor (Nee Wennerstrom) of Camrose on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the age of 65 years. Born - Shirley Ann Wennerstrom - on April 30, 1948 in Camrose, Alberta, Shirley was the eldest child of Robert and Aletha Wennerstrom. Her siblings are Wayne (Denice) Wennerstrom, Charlotte (Robert) Allers, Gary (Rosalyn) Wennerstrom and Sharon Edwards. She married William Roderick (Rod) Nadon in Camrose on April 10, 1965. They had two children, Debbie and Dennis. Shirley and Rod had many happy years together, camping, building a business and ensuring that their children always had a warm, cozy home - no matter where the job took Rod. Shirley's capacity for giving to those in need was limitless. She not only cared for her immediate family - stopping in to play cards and check in on her parents every day - but also checked in on friends and neighbors as well. Countless hours were dedicated to her kitchen - making soups, casseroles and care packages for every member of the family, friends and acquaintances. There was always a healthy dose of love added to every meal. In her spare time, Shirley tended her gardens and played crib or backgammon. In 1991, Shirley began her career as a Mail Carrier for RR #2, Camrose and continued the family tradition, started by her parents, of reliable mail delivery that spanned over 55 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Rod Nadon in 1988 - her second husband, Glen Rodney Pryor in 1996 - and her parents Robert and Aletha Wennerstrom. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Sid) Orcheski and their children Meghann (Ian) Bwengye, Sydney (Denis DePaz) and Jennifer. Her son, Dennis (Tracy) Nadon and their children, Justin (Heather Prichard) and Krista (Dave Ransome) and her great-granddaughter, Lillyana Ransome. She is also survived by her favorite aunt Marlene Klement; long-time friend and companion Lavia Swanson; and her loving and affectionate cat Max. A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Inurnment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery. If friends so desire memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to The Heart & Stroke Foundation, The Battle River Community Foundation, or the charity of one's choice.
