Obituary of Rudolph Haesloop

Please share a memory of Rudolph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rudolph (Rudy) was born to John and Bertha Haesloop March 31, 1929. He passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Home in Stony Plain December 10, 2013 at the age of 84 years. Rudy grew up on a farm north east of Ohaton, and in 1936 stayed with his Grandpa and Grandma Schmidt because the school was only ¾'s of a mile to walk. When his brother Johnny started school he came home and the two of them drove the horse and cutter to the school that was in the Ohaton area - Hampton. A new school was built on the southeast corner of his dad's land and he continued school there until Grade 9, at which point he started farming with his parents. In 1948, Rudy went with a crew of men and worked in the USA for two months. He came back and worked a short time in Camrose, but as he loved being on the farm he soon went to work with his Grandpa and family on their farms by Daysland. With the wages he earned and saved he bought his first Registered Polled Herford calf in 1946 and this was the start of Rudy's own cattle herd. It was in 1952 that he bought his first quarter of land and it was there he started building a house in spring of 1955. Then on October 28, 1955 he married Darlene Thompson. Following, Rhonda was born October, 1961 and Richard was born August, 1965. Rudy was the director of FUA (Farmers Union of Alberta), then Director of the National Farmers Union and was the President of Acme FUA and 4-H leader. He was involved in many community events between Ohaton and Bawlf and he treasured the family farm and raising Herford cattle. Rudy loved being with family, relatives and friends and was always a part of the many family events over the years. Rudy left this world suddenly. He leaves his cherished his wife Darlene of 58 years; his son Richard and his daughter Rhonda; son-in-law Peter; his grandchildren SokCheath, Chanlika, Chanrethy, and Dar; his great-grandchild Omarion; as well as his brothers Johnny and Ed and Johnny's wife Shirley. In addition there are many relatives and friends. Rudy will always be loved, and will be missed by so many. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Eriksson officiating. Inurnment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to Daysland Auxillary Hospital or the charity of one's choice.
