In loving memory of Lyle Bernard Sjolie. Lyle was born in Camrose December 17, 1934, and passed away December 9, 2013 at the age of 78 years. "Don't grieve for me, for now I am free". He is survived by his wife Vivian of 54 years. This union was blessed with three beautiful children, each with their own likes, ideas and achievements Garth (Sandy) Sjolie of Nanaimo, B.C., Stuart Sjolie of Whistler, B.C., and Lavona Sjolie(Gary Johnson) of Olds, Alberta; and nine grandchildren, Antoinelle, Kirsti (Linden), Graeme, Taylor (Gemma), Brytny (Damion), Alyx (Dylan), Tamara, Kylie, and Paige. Lyle is also survived by his brother Gene (Audrey) of Phoenix, Arizona; sister Louise Sjolie of Camrose; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lyle was predeceased by his parents Barney and Ellen; sister Ruby Swoboda; brother-in-law Joe; and nephew Frankie. Lyle worked for MacLeods Hardware, Steel Plant, NADP, Transalta Utilities, and the pro shop at Double Dam Golf Course. His true love was sports, either playing or watching. He was an accomplished golfer, He taught and encouraged many to enjoy the game of golf, and won many tournaments and championships. Lyle enjoyed other sports as well, he played ball with the Camrose Club, played hockey with the Camrose Maroons, Blues and Old Timers, as well as refereed all levels of hockey from pee wees to Vikings. Lyle and Vivian enjoyed spending parts of the winter in Arizona, but were always happy to come home to Camrose. Lyle lost his battle with Cancer after six years. At Lyle's request, no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Battle River Animal Protection Society, Hospice Society of Camrose and District, or to St. Mary's Hospital Palliative Care. The family wishes to thank Dr. Ninian and the caring staff in Palliative Care at St. Mary's Hospital. A special thank you to Suzanne Nichol and the Home Care specialists.
