Earl A. Dionne passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the age of 81. Earl was born in Gladwin, New Brunswick to Charles Dionne and Eva Marie Robichaud on April 8, 1932. He worked as a Forest Ranger for a period of time before meeting his wife Doreen, and her two children, Karen and Brian in 1960. They were married on April 3, 1961. After a two year sojourn in the United States, where son Chris and daughter Anna Marie, were born, the family returned to Canada. They moved to Schefferville, Quebec where daughter Candace was born. Earl had accepted a position with the Iron Ore Company of Canada where he worked until the family moved to Grande Cache, Alberta. Earl worked for McIntyre Mines until 1980 when he was offered a position with Syncrude Canada Ltd in Fort McMurray, Alberta. He worked for Syncrude as Manager of Mine Overburden until his retirement in 1989. Earl and Doreen settled in Camrose, Alberta in 1995. Earl is grandfather to eight grandchilden, Angela, Sabrina, Justin, David, Kaylie, Nicholas, Jasmine and Kristen & one great grandson, Jace. Earl loved golf and had a passion for travelling around Canada and the United States. He was a social and outgoing person who could strike up a conversation with anyone. He brought laughter and joy to everyone he met. We will miss you Dad. Left to cherish his memory are his children Chris (Karen) Dionne of Fort McMurray, Brian Burke of Edmonton, Karen (Rick) Welgan of Sidney, B.C., Anna Marie (Bob) Bednarz of Mundare and Candace Lacoste (Monte Levoir) of Fort McMurray; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother Richard (Madeline) Dionne of Gander, Newfoundland; and sister Pauline (Peter) Christiansen of New Denmark, New Brunswick. Earl was predeceased by his wife Doreen; brother Jimmy; and sister Geneva. A Prayer Vigil was held 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 1, 2013 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 2, 2013 from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church Camrose with Rev. Larry Pederson as celebrant. Interment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to St. Mary's Hospital Palliative Care.
