Obituary of Ruth Mary Hasiuk

Ruth Mary Hasiuk

(May 21, 1928 - August 25, 2019)

Ruth was born to Peter and Hilda Magnuson on May 21, 1928 in Edberg, Alberta. She passed away on August 25, 2019 at the age of 91. Mom went to school in Edberg and shortly after leaving school opened a Café with her sisters, where she met the love of her life, our dad, Merlin Hasiuk. They married on December 12, 1952 and settled in Edberg, where they welcomed four children: Keith, Marlene, Beverly and Grant.  Mom loved taking care of her family and home, where fresh baking greeted all who came to visit. 

Mom and dad moved to Camrose in 1970, when Dad was transferred with United Grain Growers. Mom loved socializing with family and friends, and in 1977 was kept extra busy building their new home along side Dad. Their house and yard was a showpiece that she was very proud of and people would stop by and admire and ask questions. Later when Dad retired, they had time to travel. She enjoyed their bus trips south. Mom enjoyed watching her children grow and was blessed with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dad passed away in 2008 and mom lived in their house until 2015 when she moved to Seasons Retirement Home. Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunty and great-aunt will be deeply missed by all who knew her. 

Left to cherish her memory are her children Keith (Bonnie) of Camrose, Marlene (Allen) Spady of Wainwright, Beverly (Brian) Rudosky of Daysland, and Grant (Susan) of St. Albert; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband Merlin; and siblings Anne, Gilbert, Alice, Ellen, Joan, Jean, Madeline, and Wynona. 

A Funeral Service was held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 7, 2019 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. MaryAnn Pastuck officiating. Inurnment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery.
