Elaine Joanne Woolley

(May 2, 1957 - August 2, 2019)

Elaine Joanne Woolley (also known as Lainey to her family) was born in Wetaskiwin on May 2, 1957 to Peter and Joanne Babwik. She was the 3rd daughter out of seven children. Elaine passed away on August 2 at the age of 62 after a short battle with lung cancer.

She spent her childhood growing up on the family farm in the Cloverlawn area and attended elementary school at Gwynne and high school in Wetaskiwin. She later went to Red Deer College taking a Business course. Elaine married Tim Woolley on September 27, 1980 in Wetaskiwin, then moved to Camrose where they resided until her passing. In September 1983 came their firstborn, Brandice Amber and three years later in July of 1986 came Jessica Laine. Elaine’s girls were her pride and joy. Over the years they made wonderful memories as a family which included going to Banff every September long weekend and sometimes a quick stop in at Callaway Park along the way and of course Sunday suppers.

Elaine really enjoyed her flowers, keeping her yard immaculate and weed-free. One of Elaine’s hobbies which she thoroughly enjoyed was crafting. Her and her sister Pat would often sell their creations at a Christmas craft sale. Another one of Elaine’s passions was cooking and baking which everyone enjoyed and could tell it was made with love. Elaine always made her home warm, welcoming and was always filled with love and laughter. Elaine loved the holidays with Christmas being her most favorite. By November 1st you could drive by and be guaranteed to see a stunning Christmas tree lit up through the living room window which was just a taste of the beautiful Christmas displays she had set up around the house.

The last twenty plus years she commuted back and forth to Wetaskiwin where she worked as a Judicial Clerk at the Court of Queen’s Bench. She loved the commute and everyone she worked with. Just this past September after a very long wait Elaine was blessed with her beautiful grandson Jace which she spent every day with for the past eleven months enjoying many of Jace’s 1st moments which made for everlasting memories for her.

Left to cherish her memory are her mother Joanne Babwik; husband Tim; daughters Brandice (Mark) Suchy, Jessica and grandson Jace, the love of her life. Her sisters Terry (Wilf) Ruskowsky, Pat (Daryl) Dageforde; brothers Joe (Bernie), Brian (Virginia) and John Babwik; sisters-in-law Jackie Winter and Cheryl (Dale) Powell; as well as many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Peter Babwik; infant brother Steven; mother-in-law Irene Woolley, father-in-law Jack Woolley; brother-in-law Brian Winter; and her nephew Sheldon Babwik.

You will be dearly missed by many and there will always be a seat for you at Sunday suppers.
