Obituary of Thomas "Tom" Williams

Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Tom was born to Sidney and Florence Williams in Camrose, Alberta on June 27, 1926. He passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital in Camrose on November 11, 2013 at the age of 87 years. He very happily grew up in Camrose playing hockey, curling and enjoying many escapades with his numerous friends over the years. He had known Edith most of his life as they had lived across Mirror Lake from one another. They started dating in 1949 and were married January 29, 1955. They continued to live in Camrose where over the years they raised their three children, numerous dogs and one cat. In 1968 they built their summer cottage up at Marie Lake and many fun times were enjoyed there over the last 46 summers with family and friends. Tom retired from his job with Esso Resources in 1981 at the age of 55 and was very lucky to be able to enjoy 32 more years of hunting, fishing, trapping, summers at Marie Lake, winters in Arizona, morning coffee with "the Gang" and plenty of time with family and friends and lots of visiting. He was an avid member of both the Kinsmen and K-40 Clubs and enjoyed many years of great times with his friends. He really enjoyed people, he was a loyal friend and he was always up for someone stopping in for tea and a visit. Left to cherish his memory are his three children; Charles (Susan) Williams of Calgary; Eva (Brian) Golka of Hardisty; Kristie (Donald) Reikie of Calgary; his seven grandchildren Byron & Elaine Williams, Kristie (Joe) Foster, Anne (Travis) Veale, Jocelyn, Barbara and Patricia Reikie; his three great-grandchildren Jack & Grace Foster and Sam Veale as well as many relatives and friends. Tom was predeceased by his loving wife Edith in 2012, his parents and his brother, Bob Williams. A funeral service was held on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Mary Ann Pastuck officiating. Interment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the charity of one's choice.
