Olga Karchut was born in Kopernick on August 2, 1920 to Steve and Margaret Karchut. She met Sam Wirth when she was in her teens and they got married on February 21, 1941. Olga passed away at the age of 93 years on October 7, 2013 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton. Olga was a member of the Royal Purple, president and secretary for the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League, both for many years. Olga loved camping, fishing and playing cards but the most important to her was her family and her faith. She is survived by her three children Don (Wanda) Wirth of Lake County, B.C., Glen (Lillian) Wirth of St. Albert, Yvonne (Jim) Davies of Sherwood Park; eight grandchildren Robin Wirth of Edmonton, Ryan (Lindsay) Wirth of Vancouver, B.C., Carol (Paul) Tilander of St. Albert, Richard (Laurie) Wirth of St. Albert, Leslie (Levi) Elanik of Mundare, Jay (Tracy) Davies of Sherwood Park, Jordan Davies and Cameron Davies both of Sherwood Park; and eight great-grandchildren Dylan and Emma Tilander, Addison and Benjamin Wirth, Kolt Elanik, MacKenzie Wirth, Danielle and Jackson Davies and another grandchild on the way. Olga was predeceased by her husband Sam; parents Steve and Margaret Karchut; two brothers Nick and Mike Karchut; two sisters Anne Zuk and Mary Sather; and one grandson Cody Davies. We love you Mom! We are not saying good-bye but see you later!! A Divine Liturgy was held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from Our Lady of The Prairies Roman Catholic Church Daysland with Father Greg Faryna officiating. Interment followed in the Daysland Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to Providence Place Daysland or to the Handivan Association.
