Obituary of Iris Drever

Please share a memory of Iris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Iris was the youngest of eight children born to Ernest and Vera Creasy. Iris was born in Hardisty on June 23rd,1934 and passed away peacefully on October 5th 2013 at the age of 79 years, at the Louise Jensen long term care facility. Growing up in the 30's she experienced hard times but she had the luxury of a great family and had a happy childhood. Iris attended Hazelwood Country School and Hardisty High School. On August 9th 1952 Iris married Ken Drever and they soon started their own family. Having three daughters in under three years while also looking after borders in a shared house kept Iris very busy. Iris was very well organized and could make bread while sewing, cooking, canning and caring for her children. Babies kept arriving, sadly losing twin boys but then having two more sons to complete the family. Iris was a lifelong member of the Eastern Star, Royal Purple and UCW in both Hardisty and later when the family moved (1965) to Camrose. Church suppers, fairs, funerals, staff parties, family reunions and weddings were nothing for Iris to organize and pull off. Iris never ran short of delicious food no matter how large the crowd was. Christmas at Grandmas house was extra special and she took no shortcuts to be sure everyone had a great time and felt special. Loaves of fruit bread for the entire family and many friends at Christmas time will be sadly missed. Iris was able to perfectly balance the busy business life of her husband and their family needs. She was completely supportive of her husband and cared deeply for her children, sons and daughters-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Iris was a great seamstress, and enjoyed making clothes, wedding gowns, knitting and especially porcelain dolls. Friends were very important to Iris and she was fortunate to have many very special and lifelong friends that she enjoyed spending time with. Iris leaves behind her husband, Ken; her children, Lynn (Roy) Fixsen, Judy (Daryl) Larson, Vickie (Cliff) Cullum, Cliff (Beverly), Dale (Shelley); her 20 grandchildren - Fixsens - Micheal (Heather), Jeff (Jaima), Brett (Leslie), Clay (Julia), Cody (Jaclyn), - Larsons - Neil (Everly), Becky (Jeff McClements), Megan (Ryan Paterson), Lana (Tanner DeLorey) - Cullums - Jody (Ryan Bergseth), Penny (Adam Foster), Ashley (Clark Leslie) - Drevers - Lyndell (Ryan Mowat), Ross, David (Lindsay), Lee - Drevers - Alicia (Blair Mackie), Taryn (Mike Ference), Christy, and Jordie; her 37 great-grandchildren; and her siblings - Alan (Raymonde') Creasy and sisters Phillys (Les Evans), and Doris (Louis Swanson). Iris was predeceased by her parents; infant twin sons; brothers David, Martin, Bryan and Donald. A Funeral Service was held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 2:00pm., from The Camrose United Church with Mary Ann Pastuck and Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Interment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery. If friends so desire memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to The Battle River Community Foundation, The Hospice Society of Camrose and District, or to a charity of your choice
