Please share a memory of B.H. to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With deep sadness we announce the death of B.H. (Berdie) Fowler, of Camrose, Alberta, on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at the age of 93 years. Co-founder of the Camrose Booster, along with her husband Bill, and a life-long champion of her community, Berdie lived a life based on service and gratitude. She worked hard for both business and not-for-profit causes that were of importance to her; she had high standards; and believed that if a job was worth doing, it was worth doing well. She often expressed how lucky she felt to be surrounded by the love and support of her many family and friends. In her later years, Berdie was honoured to be inducted into the Alberta Order of Excellence, presented with a Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal, a Canada 125 medal and an Alberta Centennial Medal in recognition of her many contributions to making the world a better place. In 2008 she also received an Honourary Doctorate of Laws from the University of Alberta Augustana Campus. Berdie is survived by three children: Bonnie Hutchinson (Dick Chamney); Blain (Marlene) Fowler; and Beth (Jim) Balshaw; her sister Doris (Tom) Campbell; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was pre-deceased by her parents Lester and Lilian Anderson, her husband Wm. F. (Bill) Fowler, infant son Brian, son Bruce, sister Edna Francoeur and brother-in-law Louis Francoeur. Berdie's four generations of descendants feel grateful and blessed to have shared so many quality years with their family matriarch. Funeral services for Berdie took place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the University of Alberta Augustana Campus, Faith and Life Centre, 4901- 46 Avenue, Camrose, Alberta, with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Battle River Community Foundation, Box 1122, Camrose, Alberta T4V 4E7.
