Obituary of Kenneth "Ken" Mareck

Kenneth "Ken" Mareck of Camrose passed away on Tuesday August 27, 2013 at the age of 83 years. Kenneth Maurice Mareck was born August 5, 1930 to Martin and Signe in Provost, Alberta and was one of five children. In 1946, the family moved to a small family farm on Avonroy Road where he farmed with his Dad until he took over the farm in 1971. In the fall of 1972 he married Eleanor, and a new chapter began. Ken continued to farm and also worked for the Department of Highways. In the summer of 1982, they sold the farm and moved into Camrose where he took on different jobs until he found himself working at Augustana University (kitchen) until his retirement. Ken moved into Hawthorne Cottage at Louise Jensen Centre in June of 2006, where he resided until his passing. With his charm and smile, he gained popularity with the staff and with deep gratitude we thank each of them for the care they gave him. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife Eleanor of 41 years; his son Ron (Dawn); his daughters Deb, Denise (Shawn) and Michelle; his grandchildren Dallas, Kayla (Jake), Kyle, Kole, AJ, Amanda, Jessica, Tanner, Mackenzie, Kayla (Joey) and Melissa; great-granddaughters Allora and Zoey; his sisters Verlie (Len) Clausen and Marilyn (Don) Garbe; and brother Raymond (Judy) Williams. He was predeceased by his parents Martin and Signe and two sisters Violet and Vera. A Funeral Service was held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 31, 2013 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel (4817 51 Ave Camrose, Alberta) with Rev David Eriksson officiating. Inurnment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery.
