Helen Hopfe Helen Hopfe was born at Kopernick, Alberta, September 3, 1923 to Harry and Mary Stecik. At her passing she was just short of having her 90th birthday, which she shared with her grandson Clinton. Helen started her career at 18 as a telephone operator, with her sister Mary, when they opened the AGT office is Daysland. She worked there until she married Archie. While raising her family Helen also baked every week, making delicious homemade buns, cookies, pies and cakes which her family fondly remembers! She also had a garden and worked hard to freeze many vegetables as well as canned fruit and made a variety of pickles and jams which would last all winter. Every birthday she made an angel food cake from scratch. Helen's grandchildren were important to her and she loved them dearly. She looked forward to every visit. Helen also enjoyed going out for coffee with her family. The last seven years, Helen lived at Willow Cottage where she received excellent care and will be remembered fondly. Helen is survived by her daughter Marilyn of Edmonton; two sons David (Leora) of Camrose, Greg of Red Deer; grandchildren Amanda, Clinton, Clarice, and Graham; one brother Ed of Camrose; sister Vera of Edmonton; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Archie, one daughter Joanne; five sisters; and three brothers. A Private Family Graveside Service was held from the Camrose Cemetery. Cremation has taken place. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to St. Mary's Palliative Care.
