Berneice May Roth of Camrose passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the age of 93 years. Berneice Roth (nee Strohschein) was born in Wetaskiwin, May 26, 1920. She attended Pleasant Prairie School west of Wetaskiwin. In 1943 she married Vernon Roth and for the next 65 plus years lived on a farm in the Kelsey area and raised five children Ronald (Delores), Harold (Lynn), Alan (Ingrid), Neal (Sandy) and Linda (Dwayne). She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and her sister Gladys (Leroy) Dickau. She was predeceased by her brothers Lorne and Gordon. Berneice loved the farm life which included many tasks such as milking cows, gardening, canning and raising chickens. Berneice was well known for her baking and pie making. She loved trying out new recipes. She also loved to crochet, making numerous doilies and afghans. Vernon and Berneice traveled to Yuma, Arizona for 26 winters. Fresh fruit, vegetables, pecans, and raisins all helped add to her canning inventory. Upon returning every spring Berneice would try to master the new Arizona craft market trend. She loved her trips into Mexico and California as well. Whether she was down south or at home on the farm, Berneice was always prepared for company with fresh coffee and baking. She always made you feel welcome and you never left hungry! In 2009 her declining health made long-term care necessary and she was moved to the Louise Jensen Centre at Rosehaven until her passing July 30, 2013. A Funeral Service was held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2013 from the Camrose First Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Wilson officiating. Interment has taken place at Calvary Baptist Cemetery, Wetaskiwin. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to S.T.A.R.S. or to the charity of one's choice.
