Obituary of Alvin Koetke

Alvin William Koetke passed away peacefully on July 19, 2013 in Camrose, Alberta at the age of 82 years. Alvin was born October 31, 1930 in Daysland, Alberta and was raised by his mother Josie and father Oscar along with his siblings Harold, Melba, Ernest, Lorna, Grace, and Ronnie in the Holden/Daysland area. He attended Sandstorm School as well as Holden School for his early education and then attended Vermillion School of Agriculture. On May 22, 1965, Alvin married Diane Marko and within this union they raised three children Rodney, Susan, and Charles. Growing up on the farm, Alvin's love for farming continued for most of his career. When he moved his family to Camrose, he worked a variety of jobs. After working with AGT for 22 years, his passion for farming drew him back for his retirement. Alvin loved his family very much and encouraged his children and grandchildren in every aspect of their lives. His influence and support will never be forgotten. He was predeceased by his mother Josie; father Oscar; brothers Harold and Ronnie; sister Melba; brothers-in-law Ray, Harry, and Johnny; as well as other relatives and friends. He is survived by his son Rod (Crystal); daughter Susan (Ernest); and son Charles; grandchildren Jessica (Aaron), Dale, Angelina, and Randall; sisters Lorna and Grace (Dick); and brother Ernie (Betty); also the mother of his children, Diane Koetke; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Wednesday July 24, 2013 at 10:00am from the Burgar Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Inurnment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery.
