Obituary of Eleanor "Lois" Reikie

Eleanor "Lois" Jean Reikie passed away peacefully in Camrose on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at her Deer Meadows home at the age of 87 years. Lois was born September 20, 1925 in Leader, Saskatchewan. Lois was an only child and spent most of her formative years in Unity, Saskatchewan. She completed high school and began university in Winnipeg during World War II while her father served with the RCAF. She achieved a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Alberta. She held a position in the university labs when she met her future husband, Robert (Bob) Douglas Reikie while he was in medical school. Lois and Bob settled in Camrose and raised their family. Summers at their Gull Lake cottage and extensive global travels punctuated their happy lives together. Lois was a loving mother and her sociable nature resulted in a very wide circle of friends and acquaintances. Lois is predeceased by her husband Dr. Robert and survived by her five children and their families: Dr. Rod (Elizabeth) Reikie of Red Deer, Mike (Marg) Reikie of Calgary, Pat (Don) Enemark of Phoenix, Bonnie (John) Pelletier of Fernie, and Dr. Donald (Kristi) Reikie of Calgary; thirteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from Camrose United Church (4829 50 Street) with Mary Ann Pastuck officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Camrose Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the charity of one's choice.
