Doris Hoefling of Camrose passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the age of 90 years. Doris Mable Constance Hoefling (nee Gaalaas) was born on July 1, 1923 in Camrose, Alberta. She was the sixth child of Christian and Marie Gaalaas originally of Norway. She took her education in Camrose and in 1941 she married Arthur Ronald Hoefling originally of Alliance, Alberta. As Art was employed by the bank, they moved frequently and each of their three children was born in a different town in Alberta. In 1954 the family moved to Davenport, Iowa where Art attended Palmer Chiropractic College. Upon his graduation, they returned to Camrose to set up practice. While the children lived with their paternal grandparents on the farm in Alliance, Alberta, Doris began her new career as receptionist to Art in his Chiropractic practice until their retirement in 1979. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Art, in 1988; and all of her siblings Ken, Johnny, Bud, Glenora and Orville. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law Raymond in 2011. She leaves to mourn her passing three children Bonnie Smith of Camrose, Sharon (Jack) Yaeck of Lethbridge and Ron (Judy) Hoefling of Sherwood Park; eight grandchildren Angela (Matthew) Honey of St. Andrews, New Brunswick, Leslie (Gaylene) Smith of Strathmore, Dr. Chad (Dr. Jeana) Yaeck of Calgary, Tawna (Wayne) Moura of Cochrane, Amber (Dr. Rob) Low of Cochrane, Nicole Hoefling of Sherwood Park, Ken (Julie) Hoefling of Edmonton, and Christa Hoefling (Andrew Gelasco) of Edmonton. She also leaves nine great-grandchildren Hudson, Greyden, Gavin, James, Brayden, Emma, Lynnea, Carter and Mackenzie. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. from Grace Lutheran Church (5306 50 Ave, Camrose) with Rev. Greg Kjos officiating. Inurnment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to The Bethany Group, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to a charity of one's choice.
