Norma Jean Hawkins of Bawlf, formerly of Camrose and Red Deer, passed away Tuesday June 18, 2013 at the age of 64 years. Norma was born on October 13, 1948 in Edmonton, Alberta to Elizabeth and Harold Wright. There, she was raised by her mother Elizabeth and step-father Peter Buchart. She was the youngest of the family with two brothers, Ken and Gary Wright. At the age of 14, Norma met Dennis Hawkins and married him four years later. Together they traveled overseas to many destinations. Along the way, their first child Joanne was born in Alicante, Spain. Then, during a visit back home in Edmonton, their second child Janice was born. Lastly, their family was complete when Joy was born during their stay in Johannesburg, South Africa. After they spent two years in Great Yarmouth, England, Norma chose to move to Camrose, Alberta where she continued to raise her three girls. After many years in Camrose, Norma moved to Red Deer where she attended Red Deer College and worked at the Volunteer Café Association in the Red Deer Regional Hospital. She then moved to Bawlf, Alberta where she commuted to Camrose working as a housekeeper at St. Mary's Hospital. She made several friends there who she loved and cherished. Norma took great pride in her daughters and grandchildren. She always put her family first and gave great support whenever needed. Norma enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow, attending many sports games, dance recitals, school activities, and graduations. Norma's big brown eyes and bright smile could always be counted on being there, and was loved by all. Norma passed away June 18, 2013 at the age of 64 years. Left to cherish her memory are her children Joanne (Gary) Latter of Rocky Mountain House, Janice (Kelly) Grettum of Camrose and Joy (Noel) Gendreau of Bawlf; grandchildren Megan (Justin) Teskey, Jessica Demers (Jon Naslund), Melissa Girard, Carter Gendreau, Tristan Grettum, Katie Grettum, Clarissa Gendreau, David Grettum, Stephen Grettum, Megan Lee Latter and Tina Dawn Latter; and two brothers Ken (Merielee) Wright of Chilliwack, B.C. and Gary Wright of California.
